WSG builds his records like a curator building an art show — every producer placement is intentional, every feature is a brushstroke. He leans heavy on Daringer's dusty boom-bap infrastructure and Beat Butcha's grimy textures, but he's never afraid to bring in left-field names — DJ Muggs for that West Coast psychedelic grime, RZA for the kung-fu soul, Conductor Williams for the lush baroque feel. In the booth he writes in a stream-of-consciousness style — layering fashion brands with street theology, name-dropping Basquiat alongside block stories. That juxtaposition IS the signature.

Straight up — Conway The Machine is one of the hardest MCs to ever hold a mic, and that ain't cap. Homie survived a shooting in 2012 that left him with Bell's Palsy and came back more locked in than ever. That adversity hit different in the booth — every bar carried the weight of a man who looked death dead in the face and chose to rap about it. From the underground Buffalo circuit to a Shady Records deal to going fully independent, the Machine's run been a masterclass in staying true to the craft. Consistent, grimey, built for the long haul like Crenshaw on a Sunday.

Creative Process & Sound
Conway is a storyteller first — his pen game is rooted in specificity. He doesn't write about "the streets" in general — he writes about a specific block, a specific deal gone wrong, a specific meal before everything changed. He works heavily with Daringer and Beat Butcha for the core Griselda texture, but his Shady Records era opened him up to Hit-Boy and The Alchemist — bringing in more polished sonics without losing the rawness. He's known to record in single sessions, laying verses in one take with minimal revisions. On God Don't Make Mistakes he brought in Alchemist, Hit-Boy, and Bink to create a cinematic feel — proving he can flex beyond the basement when the moment calls for it.

On everything — Benny The Butcher got one of the most consistent pens in the rap game, period. The Butcher don't miss. From the early Griselda underground tapes to a J. Cole collab single to a Def Jam deal, the trajectory been straight up like a freeway on-ramp. His whole movement built on earned credibility — no gimmicks, no algorithms, just bars that hit like he's settling a score every time he steps in the booth. In a rap landscape where everybody chasing trends, Benny stayed on Montana Ave energy through the whole come-up. That's 716 grit mixed with that Mafioso cool — like the BX and Buffalo linked up for a record.

Benny's approach is disciplined like a veteran athlete's film study — he writes every day, not just when a project is due. His relationship with Daringer and Beat Butcha is the core of his sonic DNA, but his smartest career move was linking with The Alchemist for the Plugs I Met series — those sparse, jazz-loop-heavy beats gave his street narratives maximum breathing room. For Burden of Proof he handed the whole project to Hit-Boy, creating an intentional sonic coherence that critics went crazy over. He writes in character — never from ego, always from a specific moment or mindset.
